Scholarship Description:

Applications are invited for PhD Research Scholarships Departmental Scholarships, Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick in Ireland. Scholarships are available for EU students.

Host College/University:

The KBS is one of the largest business schools in Ireland and is academic home to almost 3,000 students and over 100 enthusiastic faculty and staff and offers a wide range of business and management education programmes both on campus and at external locations throughout Ireland.

Degree level:

Scholarships are available to pursue PhD program.

Field of Study:

One scholarship will be offered by each of the School’s four departments: Accounting & Finance, Economics,  Management & Marketing, Work & Employment Studies.

Scholarship Award: 

The competition is open to prospective students who aim to enrol in early 2019 for full-time study as well as those who have registered in the current academic year, and will cover fees to EU-level and a stipend of €1,000 per month. Scholarship holders will be expected to take on some formative academic duties in the relevant department in addition to pursuing their doctoral studies.

English Language Requirements: 

Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

How to Apply: The scholarships will cover years one to four of a traditional or structured PhD programme, subject to satisfactory progress, etc. Interested applicants should submit the following material to rebecca.gachet-at-ul.ie:

  • A completed application form
  • A cover letter and CV

A research proposal of approximately 2,000 words, including the following elements:

  1. Abstract (300 words, approx.)
  2. Aims, objectives and central research questions
  3. Methodology including details of any specialist knowledge/data required
  4. Research schedule and timeline
  5. Where the project fits within the current literature
  6. Dissemination plans and potential impact
  • Two letters of reference
  • Confirmation from the prospective supervisor of willingness to support the proposal
